PCI Hosting is a server environment that's been hardened to meet the technical requirements of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Weak SSL/TLS protocols and ciphers are disabled, unnecessary ports are closed, firewall rules are enforced and software is kept patched against the vulnerabilities that PCI scanners flag.
In short, the server is configured to pass PCI compliance scans out of the box. No more chasing down a long list of scan failures yourself.
Not by itself. PCI Hosting covers the hosting portion of compliance, meaning the server environment itself. Full PCI compliance also covers your application code, how you handle cardholder data and your business processes. Those areas remain the merchant's responsibility.
Yes. PCI compliance is ultimately the merchant's responsibility. Our PCI Hosting ensures the server will pass the technical scans, but you're still required to run quarterly external vulnerability scans through an Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV) and complete your annual Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ), submitting both to your payment processor as required.
Think of it this way: we make sure the scans come back clean. You still have to run them and file the paperwork.
We monitor changes to the PCI-DSS standard and update our server configurations to match, at no extra effort on your part. When a new version of the standard rolls out, we adjust hardening profiles, cipher requirements and patching policies accordingly. If a change requires action on your application or business practices, that side remains your responsibility, but we'll do our best to point you in the right direction.
Our PCI Hosting environments are designed to pass scans from any PCI SSC Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV). Common scanners used by our customers include Trustwave, SecurityMetrics, Qualys, HackerGuardian and Clone Systems, among others.
If a scan from your ASV flags a server-level issue, open a support ticket with the scan report attached and we'll review and remediate any legitimate findings on our end. Application and code-level findings are the merchant's responsibility to address. If a finding is a false positive, your ASV has a dispute process and we can help you document the justification.
